# Creatinine

Unit: mg/dL

## What is Creatinine?

Creatinine is a waste product from your muscles that your kidneys filter out of your blood. Its level therefore says something about both your muscle mass and your kidney function. Together with eGFR, creatinine gives a picture of how well your kidneys clear things out. Stable within range is the reassuring signal.

## What moves this value?

Plenty of muscle mass, a protein-rich meal, intense training or dehydration can temporarily raise the value.

Drinking enough and not training hard just before the measurement give the most honest picture. Discuss an unusual value with your doctor.
